Dr. Larry J. Miller is a board-certified emergency medicine physician who has treated more than 130,000 emergency patients. He is recognized internationally as an industry leader, researcher, instructor, and successful businessman. He is considered one of the top authorities on the use and abuse of SSRIs in the VA System.
He received the Innovation of the Year Award from the Wall Street Journal in 2008 for his development and commercialization of the EZ-IO, which has been credited with saving the lives of more than 4 million patients world-wide.
In 2017, Dr. Miller received the Humanitarian of the Year Award from the University of Michigan for his work in Haiti, saving the lives of over 24 thousand Cholera victims. Dr Miller volunteers as the medical director of Acacia Medical Missions a faith-based non-profit clinic serving 17,000 uninsured patients of South Texas. For the past 9 years he and his wife, Monica, have served as medical missionaries in El Salvador, caring for some of the poorest people on earth through Christ for the City International.
In 2007, his son Mark, a sniper in the navy, attempted suicide after being placed on Prozac. Through a miracle of God, he was able to save Mark and get him on the road to recovery. That is when Dr. Miller realized the detrimental effect of psychotropic medications on the well-being of soldiers. He became obsessed with studying the side effects of these drugs and their contribution to suicide, especially among Veterans. He co-authored a book (Suicide Stalks the Sniper) with his son in 2021, giving hope to veterans and others with severe depression. Unfortunately, on April 1st, 2025, Mark went back to the VA for help when his depression resurfaced. Without listening to his problem, the VA prescribed another psychotropic drug, Seroquel. One-week later Mark shot himself in the head on the grounds of the VA hospital in San Antonio.
Since that horrific event, Dr Miller has been the spokesman for his son, Mark on CNN, Glen Beck, The Wall Street Journal, multiple News Channels and podcasts. He has met with congressman, the Surgeon General and multiple other leaders in Washington DC and led a protest at the Capital to decrease the overuse of psychotropic drugs by the VA. He has a solid 5-point plan to significantly decrease suicides.
In support of this 5-point plan, Dr. Miller believes Fallen Soldiers Ministries embodies the best of Christian counselling, love, compassion, and a sound program to heal our veterans without resorting to pills, secular new-age propaganda or any other narratives that are not based on Biblical principles. In the name of his son, Mark, he supports the work of Fallen Soldiers Ministries wholeheartedly and with great conviction.
